What is a Farm Plan? A Farm Plan is a comprehensive, customized document that defines land use and application of best management practices on your property. A farm plan defines the resources in a simple, easy to understand manner.

What does a Farm Plan do? A farm plan is documentation of land use and resource management on the farm. It states how natural resources are managed and what measures should be taken to provide efficient use of those resources without their depletion. The development and implementation of a Farm Plan will aid you in keeping your farm in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. A farm plan is a requirement for State and Federal "cost share", farm viability and environmental enhancement programs. Benefits to You Tailors recommendations to specific farm and field needs. How is a Farm Plan created? Once you have reviewed the Farm Plan Resource Guide and completed the Farm Planning Workbook, a Farm Planner will work with you, one-on-one, to develop and implement your plan.

How to Get Started Contact the Farm Planning Program. Request a Farm Planning Resource Guide and Workbook. Complete the Workbook. Have an onsite visit with a farm planner. Discuss your decisions with your farm planner. Keep an open mind to new ideas, technologies and information that could improve your operation. Keep your plan up to date and contact your Farm Planner when projects need to be reviewed.
